Design on your terms

PROCESS

Making the first move

As with any interior design company, great results come from good planning and processes. The first step in any project is a conversation with Claudia on the phone. She will ask clients some general questions to make an initial assessment of the type of service desired. Typically there are then two routes to get started.

Consultation

Clients who seek immediate help from an interior design company to transform selected aspects of their interiors or to gain advice as a pre-project brainstorming consultation will be advised to book a site visit for an Interior Styling Consultation which will either be based on a half-day or full day time allocation.

Introduction

For clients who are planning a complex renovation project and would like to learn more about our services and get to know the team that makes up our interior design company, we offer an initial complimentary chemistry meeting in our studio. Claudia will review and discuss the clients’ vision, ideas, and requirements and take a first look at the property’s plans. Claudia will try to learn a little bit about the client’s lifestyle, tastes and style preferences. We discuss the potential breadth and depth of the scope of the project. Following this meeting, Claudia sends a summary of the requirements and a detailed fee proposal for the design work.

Concept

Steps to Success

Listening and interpreting the clients’ ideas, wishes and requirements is the basis of the Brief. We take time to ask detailed, thoughtful and challenging questions and we start brain storming ideas to build a picture in our minds of the the look and feel of the home we are creating. These discussions and conclusions are then carefully documented and recorded and they serve as a guiding thread throughout the Design Journey.

Claudia and the team will then develop a conceptual presentation to communicate our design ideas. This can include architectural as well decorative changes. We use a range of tools to communicate our ideas such as sketches, draft floor plans, digital mood boards and other visual references  as well as physical samples to present ideas.

This concept scheme is likely to touch on:

  • Spatial planning, floor plans and furniture layouts
  • Furniture and lighting styles and requirements
  • Colour and fabric palettes
  • Architectural or decorative changes
  • Technical requirements

Design

Design twice, build once

Once a concept is agreed, we consider and refine every element of the design. This often requires technical research and liaison with specialist suppliers and workshops. We may involve and coordinate planning advice, planning applications and structural engineers. Often we will work on detailed designs with specialists for bespoke joinery, audio visual, technology, pools, windows and doors and metalwork. In summary we consider all aspects and implications of a space and its design. Through a series of meetings we present our work to the clients until we agree a complete design package.

The Detailed Design will likely include:

  • Spatial planning, room layouts in CAD drawings, plans and elevations
  • Scheme of all finishes and colours including flooring and wall coverings
  • Design of window treatments and selection of fabrics
  • Design of bespoke joinery in kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and other spaces
  • Drawings for wiring of lighting and electrical services and selection of fittings
  • All other specifications to meet the Brief
  • Specification Schedules which can now be costed.

Clients may choose to manage, source and co-ordinate projects themselves after these design stages.

Procure

Nothing left to chance

Claudia and the team will now work out detailed costings for the project, comparative quotes will be obtained from our network specialist trade contacts. There are two types of costs – building & services and supply of materials & FFE.

We will compile specifications, quantities and quotations ready for ordering all parts of the design scheme. Depending on the scope and complexity of the works, we can write the tender documents and suggest suitable contractors and undertake the tender process in order to compare and present the cost quotations ready for the clients to chose and hire a contractor.

Once the client has appointed the contractor, we begin ordering the client supply materials and FFE and we issue updated accounts at regular intervals to keep track of the project costs.

Process: Success

Deliver

The devil is in the detail

Depending on the scope of works, Claudia Interiors is either in sole charge or working as part of a team, on supervision and implementation of the overall project and programme of works. As you would find working with any interior design company, this is an equally, if not more time consuming phase of the project than the design, but crucial to ensuring that the true beauty and spirit of the designs is fully realised.

Our interior design company is committed to the following tasks:

  • Ensure efficient and diligent co-ordination between trades
  • Quality control of the ongoing works
  • Schedule and minute regular site meetings
  • Liaise with all involved parties on deliveries
  • Answer queries and questions and work to meet deadlines
  • Support the implementation with any required real time design decisions
  • Prepare meticulous snagging lists
  • Leaving a turn key, clean and ready to use property

As a team we strive to deliver projects that will exceed our clients expectations.
