Defining the Brief

Our clients contacted us as soon as they made the decision to purchase a flat off plan in the Battersea Powerstation development. This 3 bedroom modern apartment was destined to become their London base once the large family home was sold and they were downsizing to spend their time between London, the countryside and Spain. The rooms were allocated as a master bedroom suite, a guest room suite where the beds had to be able to be separated and one room to function as a multi purpose room for office work, bridge playing and occasional guests. The clients love for art deco design and contemporary art influenced our schemes.

Interior Design

We were involved in the interior design every step of the way. As soon as the building was ready to be visited we walked around in hard helmets and helped our clients request changes to the design on plan , especially with regards to the AV,  lighting and electrical layout. Hiring your interior designer as soon as possible is essential when buying a new build from a developer. Their layout is generic and not tailored to a specific clients’ furniture placement and lifestyle. We moved a doorway to create a better flow, clad a column in mirrors, designed upgraded wardrobes,  added additional storage units and an overhang for seating to the kitchen island.

Space Planning

Visualizing a new build shell as your personal space and intimate home is challenging. Downsizing from a large estate to a three-bedroom meant that we had to advise not to take any furniture. After careful consideration we agreed only to relocate their favorite artworks and accessories but everything else was designed from scratch. We used 3D modelling to show the new interiors complete with the bespoke furniture we designed, wallpapers, lighting and art placement. Nothing was left to chance and every inch of space was modelized and minutely planned in advance.

Art in Interiors

As a firm we believe in the importance of the role that art and other personal belongings play in the crafting of deeply personalized spaces for our clients. We relished the opportunity to work with this couple on selecting the right works of art from their existing collection and adding new works, reframing pieces and placing them in the right locations in the property. This holistic approach and their trust in Claudia’s sensibility allowed us to truly tailor every aspect so that wallpapers, fabrics , veneers, art, sculpture and lighting come together and everything looks like it was always meant to be this way.

Bespoke Joinery

The architecture of the Frank Gehry Prospect Place towers is sculptural where walls are kinked and no room is a rectangular shape. Additionally air conditioning, ME facilities and skyline windows create challenges for the placement of furniture which really only leaves the route of bespoke designs if you want to maximise aesthetic and practical results. The clients used to have a beautiful collection of ART DECO furniture which we took inspiration from for shapes and veneer for our designs.
